Can I make a booking at multiple hotels?
To make a booking at more than one hotel, you need to separately make a booking at each Hotel of interest.
Can I book more than one room?
When carrying out your search, you can select the number of rooms you are interested in, with 5 being the maximum. You can only book several rooms at the same time when your mix of adults/children is consistent. If it is not, you will need to make several bookings separately.
What are the benefits of booking online?
The lowest prices are available on Pestana and Pousadas brand websites. If the customer finds a lower price, we guarantee to match it and apply a 5% discount to that price, as long as it offers the same terms and conditions as ours. There are also exclusive discounts that are only available on the Pestana and Pousadas brand websites.
Can I book a room for daytime use?
Through the Pestana and Pousadas brand websites you may not book a room for daytime use. You should contact the Hotel or Pousada directly.
How do I book an accessible room?
To book an accessible room, we recommend you call Customer Service at (+112) 669 288-7193, available via Chat/WhatsApp, or by email (access via contact request form).
How do I receive the booking confirmation?
After completing your booking, the booking confirmation is sent via email to the address provided.
How do I make a special request? Double bed, extra bed, etc.
If you wish to make a special request, please add it to the “comments” section in the last step of the booking process. These requests are subject to availability.

Can I book a stay for the same day I am searching?
Yes, you may book a same-day stay. If you do not show up, your booking will be charged in full because the cancellation policy will no longer be in effect.
How do I make a booking?
​​To make a booking on the pestana.com website just choose the hotel of interest in the field “Choose a Hotel”, select the dates and the number of adults/children/rooms. Next, click on search. Several types of rooms will appear along with the various promotional offers. To complete the booking, just click on “Book Now” and fill in the requested information.

How do I know that the booking was successfully made?
After filling in your personal/payment details and their correct validation, you will receive a booking confirmation email to the email address you provided. On the website, you will also receive a prompt with your booking number.
I lost the email with the booking confirmation; what should I do?

However, presenting a booking confirmation at check-in is not required; simply present an identification document that matches the name in which the booking was made.

Is it possible to declare the expenses on stays at Pestana Hotel Group Hotels for tax benefit purposes?
Yes, this is possible for all bookings made on the Pestana website or via Customer Service, where payment is made directly at the Hotel. Where prepaid bookings are made on the Website, these are handled by the company Intervisa – Viagens e Turismo, Lda. Intervisa is a travel agency, which means that its operations fall under a specific value-added tax regime (DL 221/85) applicable to travel agencies and tour operators. As the Pestana website administrator, Intervisa bills customers for their own prepaid accommodation bookings, regardless of the hotel. Intervisa – Viagens e Turismo, Lda. is a travel agency with the appropriate CAE [Economic Activity Code] (79110 – Travel Agency Activities), therefore tax benefits are not permitted.
When booking, should I include babies/children in the number of guests if no cradle/extra bed is necessary?
When booking, you should always indicate the number of guests and their age, and request a cradle or extra bed if necessary.
If stays for children are free, why should I include children in the number of guests when I carry out a search?
Stays for children are free but the room type should be suited to the number of guests. That’s why you should include children in the number of guests when booking.
How can I book connecting rooms?
We cannot guarantee the connecting rooms that will be assigned to guests. Since connecting rooms vary depending on room types, we recommend you call Customer Service at (+112) 669 288-7193, available via Chat/WhatsApp, or by email (access via contact request form).
I’m under 18 years old, can I stay at the hotel without an adult?
Only guests aged 18 years old or older can stay at the hotel, unless they’re accompanied by an adult.
Are drinks included in half-board bookings?
No, drinks are paid for separately.
If I select half board, can I choose between lunch and dinner?
Half board always includes dinner but you can ask the hotel to change the meal to lunch instead, which is at their discretion.
Prices and Promotions
Is breakfast included in the price?
Depending on the rate selected, breakfast may or may not be included. That information is found in the availability search step in the “Rate Details”, in the last step of the booking process, and in the booking confirmation email.
What does best price guarantee mean?
Pestana Hotel Group attempts to guarantee the best price available on its brand websites. However, if you find a lower rate that offers exactly the same terms and conditions we applied, Pestana Group will match the lower price and award an additional 5% discount.
I found a lower price on another website; what should I do?
If you have a booking with us and found a lower rate on another website which offers exactly the same terms and conditions as ours, please fill out the Best Price Guarantee form available on the website or access it here. After validation of the request, Pestana Customer Care will contact you to conclude the process.

Read the Best Price Guarantee programme terms and conditions via the link. You can only benefit from the “Best Price Guarantee” policy within 24 hrs from the time the booking confirmation is received.

The price that I saw last week is no longer available; why?
Our prices vary according to occupation rate and time of year for which the search is performed. You may also have seen a promotion available on that date, which in the meantime ended.
Is the price per person or per room?
The prices shown are per room, except when otherwise indicated.
Can I take advantage of an online rate if I book directly with the booking department?
Through our Customer Service, you may benefit from the same discounts available on the Pestana website.
What is an all-inclusive stay? And full board? And half board?
An all-inclusive stay contains three daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) as well as snacks and domestic beverages, which may be consumed throughout the day.

Full board includes the three daily meals, but no beverages.

Half board includes breakfast and dinner (or lunch), but no beverages.

Will there be lower prices after I’ve booked my stay?
Our prices vary according to occupation rate and time of year for which the search is performed. Occasional promotional campaigns may be active, but it is up to the customer to check the offers available.
What is included in the price?
When a search is performed for availability, everything that is included in the price is stated in the “Rate Details” as well as in the rate policy. This information is also provided in the last step of the booking process, as well as in the booking confirmation email.
Do bookings include all the fees?
It depends on the destination/hotel, you must always check the rate details in the booking process.
What is the conversion rate used in international hotel bookings?
Bookings are always made in the local currency, and each bank’s conversion rate will be used.
Payments
Do I always have to pay by credit card at the hotel?
A credit card is always needed to guarantee the booking. If you choose a rate with direct payment at the Hotel, you can pay the total amount of your stay by credit card, debit card, or cash.
Is it secure to make a booking on the Pestana or Pousadas brand websites?
Yes.

In order to guarantee your security and maximum confidentiality, we handle your information according to Europe’s data protection laws to avoid any possible access to information, protecting all personal data provided by the customers.

Only persons authorised by the company will be able to access your personal data while performing their work.

Do I always have to pay by credit card when I book online?
To book a stay on the Pestana and Pousadas brand websites, you always need a credit card. If the booking is prepaid, the price is immediately charged to your credit card. If it is a pay-later booking, the credit card serves only to guarantee the booking. You can also guarantee your (prepaid) booking via ATM bank transfer.

I’m entering my credit card details, when are you going to charge the amount?
If you choose a prepaid rate, your booking price will be charged immediately. If you choose a rate for payment at the Hotel, no amount will be charged to your card. The Hotel reserves the right to pre-authorise the credit card to verify its validity. For pay-later bookings, the guest will be asked to present a valid card at check-in, and an amount equal to the price of the room, plus the amount to guarantee coverage for extra consumption, will be held.

For prepaid bookings, only the amount to guarantee coverage for extra consumption (€25.00 per person, not including children) will be held, times the number of nights of the stay.      

When making the payment, my card was declined; what can I do?

Which credit cards may I use to book on the website?
Visa and Mastercard.
Can I pay at the hotel with a different card from the one I used to make the booking?
If you plan to pay with another credit card, you may use it however, you will have to present the card with which you made the website booking as a form of identity confirmation.
Can I pay for a booking before check-in?

What are the payment terms and conditions?
To book a stay on the Pestana and Pousadas brand websites, you always need a credit card. If the booking is prepaid, the price is immediately charged to your credit card. You can also guarantee your (prepaid) booking via bank transfer.

Pursuant to Law No. 92/2017 of 22 August, all hotels in Portugal require the use of specific means, such as bank card or bank transfer, for any payment or receipt of equal to or more than EUR 3,000.00 (or EUR 10,000.000 for non-residents).

Cupons
Can I use the same coupon/promo code in different bookings?
Some coupons/promo codes are single-use; please read the terms and conditions of use for the coupon/promo code in question.
What are the terms and conditions for cancelling or changing a booking with a coupon/promo code?
If you cancel a booking for which you used a coupon/promo code, you will not be able to use that coupon/promo code for another booking.

If you change a booking for which you used a coupon/promo code, you will only be able to use that coupon/promo code for the booking you changed if the value of the new booking is greater than that of the initial booking.

If the value of the final booking is lower than the initial one, you will not be able to use the coupon/promo code for the final booking.

Can I change or cancel my booking?
Changing or cancelling your booking depends on the terms and conditions mentioned in the rate. If your booking is cancellable, you may cancel or modify it according to the terms and conditions mentioned in the rate.

How do I change/cancel my booking?

What is the cancellation policy?
There are several cancellation categories: cancellable and changeable, changeable and non-cancellable, and non–changeable and non-cancellable. To find out which terms and conditions apply to your selected rate, check the “rate terms and conditions” or the notes provided in the promotion.
If I book online, can I call the hotel directly to modify my booking?

What is the deadline to cancel my booking?
You will find that information in the rate terms and conditions and in the booking confirmation email.
If you cancel before the date mentioned in the cancellation policy, nothing will be charged. If you cancel after that date, you will be charged for the first night if you book for less than 7 nights, or 3 nights if you book for 7 nights or more.
What does free cancellation mean?
Free cancellation means you may cancel your booking by the deadline stated in the rate terms and conditions with no associated cost.
What does non-cancellable mean?
A non-cancellable booking means it cannot be cancelled at any time, that is, the full price of the stay will always be charged. For prepaid bookings, the price paid will not be refunded. If it is a pay-later booking, the charge will be made to the credit card provided when the booking was made.
If I do not check in at the Hotel on the date of my stay, without prior notice, is the total price of the stay charged?
Yes.
Can I change the hotel that I plan to go to?
You can change your booking if it changeable and if the cancellation policy allows it. Booking terms and conditions may vary depending on the Hotel or Pousada.
Can I cancel my booking at no cost if I have medical justification?
Yes, you should send the justification with the appropriate details by email, which you can access via the contact request form.
What happens if my flight is cancelled and I’m unable to check in at the Hotel?
The cancellation policy will be applied.

How do I notify the Hotel that I’m going to arrive late?
In the booking confirmation, you will find the Hotel’s direct phone number.
Do I need to present a credit card at check-in? What if I don’t want to present one?
You must always present a credit card at check-in for charging all the extra expenses, which the guest may incur. If you don’t plan to leave your credit card on file, you may leave a security deposit, which will be returned if no extra consumption occurs.
What documents do I need to provide at check-in?
The credit card that was used to make the booking. ID Card and/or passport.
Can I leave my luggage at the hotel before check-in?
Yes. However, you should contact the Hotel in advance to make sure there is availability.
How do I change/cancel a booking I made with a travel agency?
You should contact the entity through which you made your booking.
How do I make/change a booking under Corporate terms and conditions?

What time is check-in/out? Can it be changed?
This information is available on the frequently asked questions section of the hotel’s website, in the last step of the booking process, and in the confirmation email. Changes may be possible at the Hotel’s discretion.

I didn’t receive my receipt. What should I do?
If you haven’t received the receipt for your completed stay, we recommend contacting the Hotel directly.
I would like to comment on my stay. Where can I do that?
After the stay, all guests are sent a satisfaction survey where you may leave your suggestions. If you do not receive any survey, please send an email to guest.feedback@pestana.com
Where is the Hotel located?
On the website for the location of interest, you can view the hotel location as well as its GPS coordinates.
Is smoking allowed in the room?
Smoking is not allowed in the rooms, unless they have a balcony or terrace.
How many people are allowed in the room?
All of the hotels have different rooms with different maximum occupancies. Check the room descriptions in advance and complete the simulation adding the number of adults and children.
Do all rooms have Wi-Fi?
All Pestana hotels have Wi-Fi in the public areas. Most hotels also have Wi-Fi in the rooms. Please check the information stated in the room description.
Do all hotels have rooms for persons with reduced mobility?
All Pestana Group hotels have rooms designed for persons with reduced mobility. However, it should always be mentioned in the comments, subject to availability.

What services does the Hotel offer?
Every hotel offers distinct services. You can see the services provided by each hotel on its website.
I forgot something at the Hotel; what do I do?
If you’ve forgotten something in the room, you will have to contact the Hotel directly.
Do I need to bring a towel and a swimming cap to use the pool?
Hotels with an indoor or outdoor swimming pool provide towels, but not swimming caps. If swimming caps are mandatory, they will be available for you to purchase.
Restaurants
Can I use the dining services only, without being a guest?
Yes, any person may use the Pestana Hotel Group dining services.
How can I make a booking for the restaurant?
You should directly contact the Hotel to make your booking.
Can I use the Gourmet Voucher in any Pestana hotel?
The Gourmet Voucher can be used in some Hotels and Pousadas in Portugal only. Please read the terms and conditions of use and book early.
Can I have lunch or dinner at the Hotel?
The restaurants/bars of all Pestana Group Pousadas or Hotels are open to everyone, including non-guests.
Pet Policy
Are pets allowed in all areas of the hotel?
No, only in open areas.
Are there any restrictions on the type of pet? Is it possible to bring a bird?
It depends on the restrictions of each hotel.
Are there any restrictions on the size of the pet?
It depends on the restrictions of each hotel, some allow up to 15 kg.
Are animals permitted in Hotels and Pousadas?
Service animals are permitted at no additional cost. The guest must provide proper proof at check-in and a note should be left in the booking comments.

Booking with pets has an additional cost of €25 per animal per night, limited capacity to one animal per room. Payment is made at the Hotel/Pousada and a reference must be included in the booking comments.

Pets are allowed (upon availability) (dogs and cats up to 15 kg) at the following hotels and pousadas:
- Porto: Pestana Vintage Porto (just in Vintage Front View room types), Pestana Douro Riverside, Pestana Porto - A Brasileira

Can I use the SPA services only, without being a guest?
You may use the SPA services if you are a guest at one of our hotels or if you’ve scheduled a massage or treatment appointment with us in advance.
Kids
What is the pricing policy for children?
The pricing policy for children varies according to the hotel.
I travel with children; can I add extra beds and/or cots? Is there an additional charge?
The addition of extra beds/cots depends on the room type requested and the child’s age. Please enter that information in the booking details. The extra bed/cot charge for children varies according to the Hotel or Pousada.
I travel with children; do your hotels have activities available for children?
The Kids Club is available in some hotels at certain times of the year; please check the hotel’s services area.
What is involved in the Kids Club?
It’s a space dedicated to children where they can participate in activities. This service is free of charge and is only available at some hotels and during certain periods.
What is the maximum age to be considered an infant/child?
Generally, those up to 3 years of age are considered infants and those up to 12 years of age are considered children. However, this policy may vary according to the hotel.

When are points credited?

The points are credited after the stay (check-out) and may take up to 5 days to be visible in your balance. If after this period, no change occurs in your card balance, you can request the credit adjustment here.

Where can I check my points?

All information about your points balance, as well as exclusive promotions and benefits, is available after logging in at www.pestana.com. We advise you to contact Customer Service here.

How long are points valid for?

All points awarded up to 30 June 2023 are valid for a period of 2 years from the date on which they are earned and expire on the penultimate day of the expiry month.

All points awarded from 1 July 2023 are valid until 30 June 2025.

Always check your expiring points in your customer area.

I booked without joining the card programme. Can I earn the points?

Register online and automatically receive your customer number. When you arrive at check-in, be sure to mention it so that the points from your stay are credited to your card.

Points have not been credited to me. How can I request them?

Credit of points may take up to 5 business days, however, if you find that they have not been credited, please make the request here, up to 6 months after the stay date.

How do I earn points?

You will earn points for every stay booked through our direct channels (website, hotels, pousadas or via Customer Service) or for purchases made in our bars and restaurants. Bookings not made through our direct channels are entitled to 250 points per night.

If the booking is made under special conditions, e.g. group bookings or prepaid promotions, no points will be earned.

How do I obtain my Voucher once I have paid?
You can receive your Voucher either in digital or physical format. Just select one of the options at the time of your purchase at pestana.com. Digital Vouchers are sent to the email address provided immediately. If you opt for a physical Voucher, it will be delivered free of charge within 72 hours. You can also buy them at any Pousada de Portugal or Pestana Hotel in Portugal.

Payments made through an ATM can take up to 48 hours to be processed (working days). If you pay through an ATM at the weekend, payment confirmation will only be processed on the first subsequent working day, meaning your Voucher will only be sent after this date. There are no deliveries at weekends.

You should contact the Pousada de Portugal or the Pestana Hotel in Portugal to check availability and then proceed with your booking. When booking, check whether the option is a select menu or a buffet to ensure that the booking is in accordance with your expectations. How do I obtain my Gift Card once I have paid?
You can receive your Voucher either in digital or physical format. Just select one of the options at the time of your purchase at pestana.com. Digital Vouchers are sent to the email address provided immediately. If you opt for a physical Voucher, it will be delivered free of charge within 72 hours. You can also buy them at any Pousada de Portugal or Pestana Hotel in Portugal.

Payments made through an ATM can take up to 48 hours to be processed (working days). If you pay through an ATM at the weekend, payment confirmation will only reach us on the first subsequent business day, meaning your Voucher will only be sent after this date. There are no deliveries at weekends.

€30 and €80 Gift Cards are only available in digital format.

How do I book a stay?

In order to use your Voucher/Gift Card, it is MANDATORY to make a PRE-RESERVATION.

At the moment it is not possible to make a reservation through pestana.com, please go to the Help Center page and contact us by email, phone or chat. Our Customer Service team will follow up your reservation request as soon as possible.

You MUST hand in your voucher at check-in. If you do not, your stay will be charged at the rate available on pestana.com.

Can I cancel a booking made with a Gift Card?
If you cancel the booking, you will not be able to use the Gift Card again; however, you can change the dates for the same Hotel or Pousada de Portugal during the 12-month validity period.
Can I make a booking while the Gift Card is valid and stay at the Pousada/Hotel after the 12-month period?
No. You need to check out within the 12-month period, after which your Gift Card will have expired.
