The Pousada Convento de Évora, also known as the Pousada dos Loios, is located in the museum-city of Évora, a World Heritage site. The Pousada is located between the Catedral Gótica de Évora and the Templo de Diana and very close to the Praça do Giraldo and the Colégio do Espírito Santo.
The building retains traces of its original architecture, such as courtyard cloisters, a peaceful and serene area where you will find the outdoor swimming pool and an area for you to relax.
The Pousada features the Loios restaurant, a bar and a free car park with limited capacity. Almost all of the rooms are individually unique and include Wi-Fi.

HISTORY
The building that today houses the "Pousada dos Lóios" is the old S. João Evangelista or Lóios Monastery of the Congregation of Cannons Regular (blue Cannons).
It was founded in 1487 by D. Rodrigo Melo, 1st Cannon of Olivença and constructed under the orders of D. João II, on the land where a part of the Castelo de Évora (of Arab origin) once sat. In 1834, with the royal order to close all Monasteries and Convents in Portugal, this Monastery was left uninhabited for quite some time.
In the 18th century, the Monastery underwent changes resulting from fire damage during the 1383-85 revolution and also the earthquake of 1755. In 1965, after the necessary remodelling and changes, the Monastery opened its doors again as the Pousada de Portugal.
LOCATION AND DESTINATION
The city of Évora is considered the capital of Alentejo. Here you can visit the main attractions on foot. Some of the must-see sites include: Capela dos Ossos, Sé Catedral, Praça do Giraldo,Teatro Garcia de Resende and the Colégio do Espírito Santo.
Just 19 km away, you will find the Cromeleques de Almendres, a megalithic site with various menhir stones arranged in circles. The Pousada is located 35 minutes by car from the town of Reguengos de Monsaraz, 20 minutes from Vila de Arraiolos and 134 km from Lisbon.
