The Pousada Convento Beja is located in the old Convent of São Francisco in the
city of Beja, in Alentejo. Located in the city centre just
700 metres from the castle and
200 metres from the Rainha D. Leonor museum. The Pousada is the result of a majestic, architectural project that is representative of Portugal's religious and gothic architecture.

HISTORY
The first records of the Convent date from 10 November 1268, the date which marks the
appearance of the community of São Francisco in Beja at the initiative of the Warden Lopo Esteves and Councilors Diogo Fernandes and Vasco Martins.
This historical luxury hotel maintains the original features of the old building, having several spacious areas, with high ceilings where white predominates on the walls decorated with old pieces of art and local craftsmanship.

Menagem Tower of the Beja Castle is the hallmark of the city, with its height (40 metres) and beauty making it the most splendid military monument of its kind in Portugal.
